Derek Sivers notes on Ignore Everybody by Hugh... →
A fancy tool just gives the second-rater one more pillar to hide behind. Which is why there are so many second-rate art directors with state-of-the-art Macintosh computers.
Sounds like there is some great stuff here. Added the book to my Amazon list.
Simon St. Laurent: Why is HTML Suddenly... →
This article was about to fall out of my Google Reader All Items folder, so I decided to take a break and read through it. Glad I did. It does a good job of summing up why we are living in a bit of a renaissance with HTML and other web technologies. I liked this point:
In the mad rush to build mobile applications, HTML 5’s competition isn’t even desktop web browsers, but other...

After doing a few Google searches on the group, it turns out...
Jesse Thorn, America's Radio Sweetheart, on Kayne →
Jesse Thorn of The Sound of Young America gives a pretty good overview of Kanye’s recent kerfuffle at the VMAs.
Kanye does come off as an ass when he does stuff like this, but I admire his ego and his steadfast belief in the supremacy of what he does and what/who he admires.

Threads like this is one of the reasons I love this site.
Great quote from one of the participants:
I worked in a sandwich shop for 2 years and I never saw anyone do anything gross to someone’s food. The worst thing I saw was that one of the guys would always put a single kernel of corn in people’s sandwiches so they’d be confused a few days later when they passed it....
Ze Frank on Labor Day and Socialism.
This has been all over the place by now, but I just emailed it out again to Chad so I figured I should post it here too.
